What Is An Escape Room?

02/19/2019

We’ve been talking about escape rooms a lot recently. I think you’ll agree that we’re understandably excited. Not only have we launched the first escape rooms in Hudson, Ohio, but – in our opinion at least – we have the best and most immersive rooms around!

But we realize that not everyone has experienced an escape room, and some of you may have some questions about just what to expect. Don’t worry if you do have questions, if you’re the inquisitive type, escape rooms might just be the perfect adventure for you!

What is an Escape Room?

An escape room is an interactive adventure designed to test your wits. We could tell you more, but perhaps it would be better to show you. Take a quick minute and check out this informative video!

How Many People Are Required?

Each of our rooms requires at least two people to solve all the puzzles. The rooms can accommodate groups of up to eight people, though, and as they say two heads are better than one, so be sure to bring some friends!

Are Escape Rooms Dangerous/Am I Really Locked In?

No, most escape rooms are not dangerous. In fact in our rooms, at no point in time is any door actually locked behind you. Although they are called “escape rooms”, in our rooms the goal is not to escape, but rather to accomplish a mission or complete a quest.

Do I Need To Bring Anything With Me?

All you need to bring is a sense of adventure and a willingness to work with others! No tools are required to solve any of the puzzles, other than those that may be given to you during the adventure.

Are There Any Rules?

The number one rule for our escape rooms is simple – have fun! That being said, there are a few other simple rules that we ask you to follow, as explained in this short video.

Are Escape Rooms Scary/Child Friendly?

Escape rooms can cover a wide variety of themes, some of which may indeed be a tad on the scary side. As with all things at the Malted Meeple however, our escape rooms are designed to be family friendly. That being said, our fantasy themed room, The Sorcerer’s Eclipse, does contain a few magical skull style props. Parents who feel this might be concerning for their children are advised to experience our sci-fi themed room, Area 53 instead.

When Can I Book?

Both of our escape rooms are up and running and fully functional, and online booking is now available! We hope to see you soon, and remember, don’t just escape… adventure!
