The CEO and head brewer of Missing Falls, Mark Crnjack, will be stopping by The Malted Meeple May 24th. Come in to try some locally made brew and learn more from the owner himself!
Missing Falls opened their doors in November of 2018, but all four owners have been brewing as a hobby for years. Initially, the brewery had plans to set up shop in Munroe Falls, Ohio (hence the name comically referencing the lack of actual falls in town). Due to challenges with the original location, they have found their home in Akron in part of the old BFGoodrich rubber building.
Mark’s interest in brewing was initially sparked with a basic brew-at-home kit that “turned out awful.” From there, he took a trip to a local homebrew supply shop where he upgraded to a 3-gallon kitchen stove kit. Eventually, he was writing his own recipes and running a large custom built brewing system out of his garage. At that point, he still considered it just a hobby!
Of course, Missing Falls isn’t run entirely by Mark. The brewery is made up of four equal partners: Mark, Will Myers, Sean Hamilton, and Kenny Davis. Each had mutual dreams of professional brewing and owning their own business. Once they brewed together they realized they had the makings of a great team. Mark and Sean primarily design the recipes. Sean tracks the brew schedule and orders ingredients. Will handles the office work, and Kenny manages the grain and sanitation of the brew house.
The Meeple’s main feature from Missing Falls this month is their Mango ReHab. We’ve never tried an IPA quite as unique as this one. It combines tropical fruit flavor from real mango with a light touch of habaneros (locally sourced whenever possible!). Don’t let “habanero” deter you though, they use a special method to control the heat level so they’re used for a warm finish as opposed to actually making the beer spicy.
Come by The Malted Meeple May 24th from 7:30-9:30 PM to try this delicious beer and to see what else we have on draft by Missing Falls! Mark will be bringing in some merch to give away and The Meeple will be giving away a pair of escape room tickets as well! We hope to see you soon!
