Role Playing Update

08/13/2015

A few months ago we discussed the role of role playing games here at The Malted Meeple. At that time, we teased you with some of the awesome ideas we had planned to bring even more role playing to you, our guests. I’m thrilled to say that in the last few months we’ve implemented many of these programs, along with some great new ones!

The Malted Meeple team also recently visited the mecca of all role players – GenCon. We’ve brought back with us a cornucopia of ideas and new systems that we’re itching to try out! Shadowrun. Numenera. The One Ring. Star Wars: Force and Destiny. These and more will be joining our offerings in the near future!

Speaking of our offerings, I’d like to take a brief moment to give an update on the various role playing activities available to you at The Malted Meeple.

Pathfinder Society
Four hour sessions. Every Monday night, starting at 6:00. All materials provided.

We have recently begun offering organized Pathfinder Society play Monday evenings. We are currently running one table, but plan on expanding into additional tables as additional players join.

Test Run Tuesdays
Session length varies. Tuesday nights as available, starting at 6:00. All materials provided.

You’ve heard of beta tests for software, but how about for Role Playing Games? In Test Run Tuesdays, volunteer Game Masters polish up an adventure that they plan to run in an upcoming convention.

Are you a player who doesn’t mind playing a game that may still have some wrinkles? Join us for an opportunity to help a GM hone their craft! Are you a Game Master with a scenario to test? Let us know and perhaps you can run your own Test Run Tuesday!

Dungeons & Dragons Encounters
Two hour sessions. Every Wednesday night, starting at 5:00 and 8:00. All materials provided.

The current flagship of our role playing activities, Encounters is the official weekly organized play program for Dungeons & Dragons. Geared for casual play audiences, Encounters are one to two hour sessions, each of which is a standalone episode set within a larger unfolding storyline. The format allows guests to easily join the story in progress.

We are currently playing through the first season of Encounters, the Tyranny of Dragons. We have recently engaged the services of several volunteer Game Masters, and are now running approximately 8 tables a week!

Thursday Evening Role Playing (Star Wars, Call of Cthulhu, Deadlands)
Four hour sessions. All materials provided. Sign up to reserve your seat.

There are some great role playing systems out there that involve neither swords nor sorcery. Most Thursday evenings we’ll be running a four hour session in one of those systems.

Keep an eye on our calendar and Meetup group, and join us for an adventure in the Star Wars universe, a terrifying trip through the eldritch in Call of Cthulhu, a jaunt into the weird west with Deadlands, or a visit to whatever other setting we come up with!

Sessions are typically four hours in length, and are geared for newcomers and experienced players alike. Seating is limited, so email us at info@maltedmeeple.com to reserve your seat at the table!

The Red Cloak Society
Four hour sessions. All materials provided. Sign up to reserve your seat.

Visit the world of the Mobile Ento Environment Platform (MEEPl), and join the Red Cloak Society.

Written and run exclusively for The Malted Meeple by a long time guest and friend of Ravenwood Castle, this unique monthly series of role playing sessions is something truly special!

We continue to be extremely excited about our lineup of role playing offerings, and hope you are as well! But we’re not done creating yet. We have some more great ideas of our own, and are also tapping into an amazing resource – you!

As always, we want to hear from you! What types of role playing games do YOU want to play? What systems? What storylines? Do you like stand alone, one off sessions, or would you prefer a longer term continuous campaign? Join the conversation on Facebook, hit us up on Twitter, or email us at blog@maltedmeeple.com.

Would you like to be even more involved, and perhaps run your own game? Stay tuned in the coming weeks for details of our upcoming volunteer Game Master program!
