Something Awesome This Way Comes, Part II

04/28/2015

Last week I mentioned that we were going to be adding quite a few new weekly activities and special events to our calendar. We’ve already announced our first tournament. Later this week we’ll be announcing our first Beer Tasting event, and elaborating on our month long Star Wars celebration. But for now, I’d like to discuss some of the great new role playing events and activities we have on tap.

Role playing is near and dear to my heart, as it was my entry point into the gaming hobby so many years ago. Based on all of the great conversations we’ve been having with our guests over the last few weeks, role playing is pretty important to you as well. We asked what types of role playing activities you would like to see, and boy did you respond! On Facebook, via email and across the bar, we’ve been having some great discussions, and with your help we’ve come up with some exciting new additions to our role playing lineup. Here’s a brief list of some of our current, and upcoming, role playing activities.

Dungeons & Dragons Encounters (Currently Running)
Two hour sessions. Every Wednesday night, starting at 5:00 and 8:00. All materials provided.

Encounters is the official weekly organized play program for Dungeons & Dragons. Geared for casual play audiences, Encounters are one to two hour sessions, each of which is a standalone episode set within a larger unfolding storyline. The format allows guests to easily join the story in progress.

We are currently playing through the first season of Encounters, the Tyranny of Dragons. We will likely begin a parallel track with the second season, Elemental Evil in the near future.

Dungeons & Dragons Expeditions (Coming Soon)
Four hour sessions.  All materials provided.

Expeditions is also a part of the official Dungeons & Dragons organized play program. Each Expedition is a four hour session, set within the same storyline as the Encounters.

We will be running Expeditions in both the Tyranny of Dragons and Elemental Evil seasons. Stay tuned for dates and details.

Star Wars: Edge of the Empire (Starting May 7th)
Four hour sessions. All materials provided. Sign up to reserve your seat.

Fight for survival and profit in the Star Wars Universe. Take on roles such as bounty hunters, smugglers, and explorers! Be a hero or a scoundrel in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Role-playing game!

As a part of our month long Star Wars Celebration, Head Game Master Karington will be running his personal favorite role playing system, Star Wars: Edge of the Empire. Sessions will be four hours in length, and will be geared for newcomers and experienced players alike. Pre-generated characters will be provided, or come early and create a character of your own.

The first session will be May 7th, at 6:00. Each session will be limited to eight players. Email us at info@maltedmeeple.com to reserve your seat at the table!

Call of Cthulhu (Starting May 21st)
Four hour sessions. All materials provided.

The Old Ones ruled the earth aeons before the rise of man. Traces of their cyclopean cities can still be found on remote islands, buried amid the shifting desert sands, and in the frozen wastes of the polar extremes.

Take on the role of an investigator in the seventh edition of this classic horror role playing system. Uncover the horrors of the universe that man was not meant to know.

The first session will be May 21st, at 6:00. Each session will be limited to six players. Email us at info@maltedmeeple.com to reserve your seat at the table!

Dungeons & Dragons Throwback (Coming Soon)
Four hour sessions. All materials provided.

Experience one of the classic Dungeons & Dragons settings, now with the ease of 5th Edition rules. Meeple-in-Chief Jim is dusting off his DM screen and returning to the fray for this throwback adventure.

Stay tuned for dates and details.

The Red Cloak Society (Coming Soon)
Four hour sessions. All materials provided.

Join the exclusive and secretive Red Cloak Society and explore new worlds – each of which will require its own unique set of skills and powers to survive.

Written and run exclusively for The Malted Meeple by a long time guest and friend of Ravenwood Castle, this unique series of role playing sessions will be something truly special. Stay tuned for details!

We are really excited about this great lineup of role playing offerings. But we’re not done creating yet, not by a long shot!

We want to hear more from you! What types of role playing games do YOU want to play? What systems? What storylines? Do you like stand alone, one off sessions, or would you prefer a longer term continuous campaign? What length sessions do you want to see, and what days of the week work best for you?
