It’s a battle of prehistoric proportions in July’s Game of the Month, Dino Dunk! Check out the sweet stylings of your favorite dinosaurs in this dexterity game that has you drafting your Dino Dream Team in a basketball-inspired game space.
This unique take on the traditional rules of basketball pits the Triassic Tropics against the Mesozoic Meteors. You can play with 2 or 4 players broken into two teams. Each team drafts the dinosaurs for their team from the options ranging from Tyrannosaurus Rex on down to Pterodactyl in size, each with their own special abilities to contribute.
The teams must each consist of one small, one large, and 3 medium-sized dinosaurs. Their abilities include passing, shooting, moving, and, of course, dunking! The teams take turns being on offense and defense, with the possibility of turn-overs, trying to maneuver their dinosaur tokens and the ball token by flicking the pieces to cause chain reactions of movement and get the ball to the goal. The first team to score 6 points wins.
With fun, colorful art and a high-quality neoprene play mat, this game looks gorgeous on the table and the mat is a perfect surface for the sliding pieces that make up the heart of the physical mechanics. Unlike many other dexterity games out there, this isn’t just a game of stacking and holding your breath. There’s a little bit of pool-like skill required in lining up your shots and hitting the right spot to get the right distance and spin on the pieces.
Is your aim true enough to become the MVP of Dino Dunk? There’s only one way to find out! Pick your team and battle it out on the court.
Cody Stevens, designer of Dino Dunk, will be visiting us July 28 for a Dino Dunk Demo Night where you can learn to play the game, compete in our 3-point contest, and try to outscore the designer in his own game! We will have copies of the game for sale and he will sign them for you! Plus, we’ll have some swag like pins, posters, and promo art!
