Exciting Changes at the Meeple, Part 3!

01/5/2018

It’s time for the next update in our series of exciting new changes happening here at the Malted Meeple! If you missed the first parts in the series, you can find them on our Meeple’s Big Move page, be sure to check them out!

A lot has happened in the weeks since our last update. I’ve picked just a few of the more exciting items to share with you. For a full update stop in to the Meeple and chat with any of our friendly team members!

Construction – In our last update I shared a photo showing the mostly empty space as we cleared out the old and made way for the new. The construction crew has been busy since then, and we’ve made some amazing progress! Check out this quick video tour.

Though we shot the video just over a week ago, it’s already quite out of date. Stay tuned for an updated video tour in the next week or so!

Expanded Food Menu! – If there’s one thing we hear a lot, it’s that our guests would like us to offer some more substantial food items to complement our amazing snack lineup. A few months ago we took the first step in this process and added soft pretzels to our menu, and the reception has been outstanding!

As promised, the soft pretzels were just a start. We’ve been working hard to add a few more hearty snacks and even a couple of light entrees to our menu. The challenge was simple, our Game Masters create the best milkshakes and gaming experiences in town, but experts in the culinary arts we are not! So we’ve chosen to focus our skills on what we do best, and leave the cooking to people who ARE experts in the kitchen.

We are thrilled to announce that in the near future we will be offering some amazing culinary treats courtesy of the fine folks at Mavis Winkle’s Irish Pub! While the exact menu is still being determined, our initial phase will include one light entrée and one hearty snack:

Shepherd’s Pie – this iconic pub offering contains ground beef, corn, celery, carrots and onions in a rich gravy topped with garlic mashed potatoes. Tasty, filling, and goes great with a game of Catan or Agricola!

Scotch Eggs – for anyone who hasn’t tried (or even heard of) a Scotch Egg, boy are you in for a treat! This hearty snack consists of a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage, coated in bread crumbs and baked.

I was first introduced to this delicacy at the Rogue Ales brewpub in Oregon, and immediately set out to figure out where to get them here in Ohio. While Mavis Winkle’s did not have Scotch Eggs on their menu, they rose to the challenge and created them at our request. And they’re amazing!

Scotch Eggs

We are working with Mavis Winkles to add some other iconic Pub foods to the menu. Stay tuned for more updates! And in the meantime, stop in to the Meeple and check out the Shepherd’s Pie and Scotch Eggs. We will be starting a limited quantity trial run as early as this weekend!

Expanded Staffing, Seeking Host/Hostess – You may have noticed in the video tour above that unlike our current location, the new space will have a dedicated host/hostess station. Given some of the new offerings we will be announcing shortly (stay tuned!), that’s a role we are definitely going to need.

We’re getting a head start, and are beginning our search for this new team member now. Maybe you can help. Are you friendly and outgoing? Do you like games, milkshakes, beer, and great hospitality? Do you want to work with the best team of people around? Do you know someone who fits that description? If so, have them send us an email at jobs@maltedmeeple.com.

There are more upgrades on the horizon, including a new video tour in the not too distant future! As always, stay tuned here for continuing announcements and updates!
