GenCon 2016 Recap

08/9/2016

We’re back from Gen Con and are excited to share all of the tales and treasures from the “Best Four Days of Gaming!” We were happy to see many of you this year in Indianapolis. And for those of you who weren’t able to go, don’t worry, we brought plenty of the fun back with us. After all, we braved the crowds and the lines to bring back a few armfuls of games just for you!

The most exciting part of Gen Con for us is seeing the new games fresh off the line. It is always interesting to see the merging of innovative game mechanics, beautiful art work, and fun themes.

This year there were several new exciting titles including: Fantahzee, J’accuse, Mystic Vale, Oceanos, Brewin’ USA, Tides of Madness, Escape the Room, Treasure Hunter, Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu, and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle. Many of these games will not be in stores until the fall, but we brought them back early for you to enjoy!

We met up with many of our friends in the gaming industry including: Plaid Hat Games, Greater Than Games, Fireside Games, SlugFest Games, Smirk & Dagger Games, the Pathfinder Society, Tuesday Knight Games, North Star Games, Rather Dashing Games, Queen Games, and many others. The Malted Meeple team also made many new friends at this year’s Gen Con. We will be featuring many of these companies in our upcoming Publisher’s Spotlights, and will be sharing some of their games as our Games of the Month, so make sure to stay tuned!

Many friends, both old and new, sent us home with copies of their games for inclusion in our library. We would like to extend to them our sincerest thank you!

Overall, we had a wonderful time at Gen Con 2016 and returned laden with the spoils of the dealer hall. We had the opportunity to demo quite a few games, and selected the best to share with you. We think you are going to be very pleased with our newest additions!

So what are you waiting for?! Stop by to give all of the shiny new games from Gen Con a try! Which game are you most excited to see? Join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter!
