About this time last year, we had a series of conversations with you our guests. Through those conversations we realized that there was an awful lot of interest in role playing games. So we put our planning hats on, and came up with a whole series of role playing events and activities. It’s a year later, and we are proud to offer one of the strongest lineups of role playing activities in Northeast Ohio. And we’re not done yet! We have some exciting news on the role playing front, stay tuned!
But this post isn’t about role playing, it’s about board gaming. Through our ongoing conversation with our guests we have come to the inescapable conclusion that while you love our role playing, you’d like to see us provide a similar level of awesome activities on the board game front.
Ask, and ye shall receive!
We’ve assigned our best Meeple Scientists to the task, and have come up with a slew of new board game related experiments, er, activities!
Board Game League
Mondays Beginning May 2nd
Want to be in a bowling league, but hate the funny shirts? Interested in trying new games, but missing a player or two? Why not join the Malted Meeple’s new Board Game League?
Join us every Monday for League play, featuring new games each week. Earn points by playing, by winning (if applicable), for bringing a new friend, and maybe even for wearing a funny shirt! Prizes will be awarded each week, and for the overall winner at the end of each four week league season!
Signups for the Board Game League will be available in early April, and the first season begins May 2nd.
The Malted Meeple Board Game League. No funny shirt required!
Trivia Tuesdays
Every Tuesday 6:00 to 10:00 April through September
Last Fall we ran a few trivia sessions on the patio, on an experimental basis. What we learned was that you guys really love your trivia. So we’re bringing it back, and will be running Trivia Tuesday’s all season long!
Join us every Tuesday evening from April to September for Geek Out on the patio.
And if Trivia itself isn’t enough, stay tuned for announcements about our upcoming Tuesday beer tastings. Trivia and Tastings, does it get any better than that?
Legacy League
Weekdays
Are you familiar with “legacy” style games? These games, such as Risk Legacy, Pandemic Legacy and the highly anticipated SeaFall Legacy, are designed to have continuity from session to session. The game board and rules actually change and evolve as you play, making each game unique to a specific group of players.
The evolution of the physical game board makes it difficult to share Legacy style games with our guests. Up until now, that is. Enter the Legacy League!
The Legacy League is designed to provide you and your group an opportunity to enjoy these great games. Better yet, you’ll be able to enjoy them at a fraction of the cost of purchasing your own copy, as these tend to be fairly expensive games!
Signups for the Legacy League are available now, with play beginning in mid-April. Stay tuned for details!
Themed Thursdays
Every Thursday Beginning May 5th
Do you absolutely love games about travel? Maybe space exploration is your thing, or perhaps you just can’t get enough of Japanese culture. Themed Thursdays is for you!
Beginning in May, our Game Masters will be choosing a new theme every month. Every Thursday we will present a new game in that theme, including demonstrations, tutorials and occasionally tournaments.
Join us for Themed Thursdays, and discover just how many superhero games there are!
Professor Meeple’s Game Lab
Watch Calendar and Meetup.com for Details
A few weeks ago we announced Professor Meeple’s Game Lab, a program designed to uncover the world of indie board games and share it with you. Since then we’ve brought quite a few great games into the Lab, to an amazing reception from our guests!
We plan to continue bringing great indie games into the Lab, and are already scheduling more sessions. To maintain flexibility with designers we do not restrict Professor Meeple to any particular night of the week. Stay tuned to our calendar or Meetup.com for announcements as they become available!
We are really excited about this great lineup of board game offerings. But we’re not done yet! We would love to hear from you! What other board game offerings would YOU like to see?
