September’s Publisher Spotlight – Mayfair Games

09/8/2015

One of the things we like to do here at the Malted Meeple is give some extra attention to our favorite board game publishers and designers. In our monthly Publisher’s Spotlight we provide a bit of a background on the publisher, discuss a few of their games, and may even announce a visit to The Meeple by some of the publisher’s representatives!

The Malted Meeple is thrilled to announce our September Publisher’s Spotlight: Mayfair Games!

Mayfair Games is a well known veteran in the gaming world, and has produced a variety of board, card, and roleplaying games. With over 30 years of experience providing quality games to their loyal fan base, Mayfair Games has brought us many favorites.

Mayfair is undoubtedly best known for its wildly popular game: The Settlers of Catan. The Settlers of Catan has won numerous accolades and boasts a variety of expansions, including many themed versions. Twenty years later Catan, as it is now called, has stood the test of time and remains one of the most well known board games ever created.

Though Catan is Mayfair Game’s flagship, it is but one of many games they produce. Some of their other titles include: Family Business, Elk Fest, Steam, Nuns on the Run, Flea Market, and many, many more! Mayfair Games produces games that are approachable for new gamers, but still offer a challenge to veteran players. Their line up offers games full of interaction, decision-making and replayability.

Here at the Malted Meeple we are particularly excited for the release of Mayfair Games newest title, Star Trek: Five Year Mission! In this game players take on the roles of the heroic crew members of the Enterprise. Players choose between the iconic original crew led by Captain Kirk or the famous Next Generation crew, led by Captain Picard. Once that unenviable decision has been made, the players will face challenges of varying difficulty. Players must work as a team (or crew in this case) to handle alerts, save the Enterprise, and boldly go where no man has gone before!

The next time you are in the Malted Meeple, ask us about the Mayfair Games titles in our library. We will be happy to teach you some of our favorites!

Karington Hess is a lifelong gamer whose passions for hospitality and all things game-related led him to Ravenwood Castle, where he served as an Innkeeper before joining The Malted Meeple. When not pouring beers, crafting milkshakes, or teaching boardgames, Karington can be found behind the DM’s screen, weaving intricate stories for his fellow gamers.
