Responsible Restart

Dear Malted Meeple Guests,

You have likely heard by now that Governor DeWine has announced the next step in his Responsible Restart Ohio program, which includes the reopening of restaurants and bars. While we are excited to resume serving our guests, we are intent on resuming operations in a responsible manner. After careful consideration, we have decided that we will begin limited operations on Thursday, May 21st.

In order to comply with the Responsible Restart program, and to ensure the health and safety of both our staff and our guests, we will be implementing several changes to our normal operations. These include:

Face Masks

When initially announced, the first point in the Responsible Restart program was “No mask, no work, no service, no exception”. This requirement has changed several times since then, but we will be abiding by the initial rule. All Malted Meeple staff will be wearing face masks while on duty. We will also be requiring guests to wear face masks while entering the building and interacting with staff. Masks may be removed while seated at a table on the main floor, patio, or private room. Please endeavor to bring your own mask. We will attempt to have extra masks, but can not guarantee availability.

We understand that wearing a face mask has become somewhat controversial. We respect everyone’s right to their own opinion, and to make the choice that they feel is best for themselves. That being said it is our choice, for the safety of our guests and staff, to require a mask. If you prefer not to wear one and choose not to visit the Malted Meeple until this requirement is lifted, we will respect your decision and will look forward to you visiting again at some point in the future.

Social Distancing

In order to comply with the social distancing guidelines of the Responsible Restart program, we will be making several changes to our seating areas. We will be removing several tables from service, as well as several of the stools at the bar. We ask that you respect the posted social distancing measurements during your visit.

Cleanliness, Sanitization and Hygiene

The remainder of the Responsible Restart protocols focus on cleanliness, sanitization and hygiene. As a matter of routine, The Malted Meeple takes the cleanliness of our facility and operations very seriously. As such we already follow strict guidelines and procedures to ensure that cleanliness. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be implementing an even stricter cleaning regimen, as well as several additional measures to minimize risk, including the frequent cleaning and sanitization of common areas, escape rooms, public bathrooms and other high touch surfaces.

Scheduled Events

Under the Responsible Restart guidelines, gatherings (whether in bars and restaurants or elsewhere) are limited to parties of 10 or fewer individuals. It is our belief that the intent of the guidelines is that these parties are family units, or other groups of people who regularly interact. We do not believe that our regularly scheduled role playing and other sessions – all of which are open to the public and encourage group interaction – fit into the spirit of this limitation. As such we will be temporarily discontinuing all scheduled role playing and gaming sessions. We look forward to resuming these extremely popular events as soon as it is judged safe to do so.

Private Escape Rooms

We will also be temporarily modifying our escape room bookings during this period in order to ensure social distancing. For the duration of this period, all escape room bookings will be treated as Private Rooms, at no additional charge. When you book an escape room for your group, that room will be closed to all further bookings, ensuring that only your group will be in the room during your adventure.

Hours of Operation

During this initial reopening period, we will be shortening our hours of operation. For the immediate future, we will be open from 4:00 to 11:00 Monday through Friday, and Noon to 11:00 Saturday.

We are excited to begin operating again, and look forward to welcoming our guests back to responsibly enjoy our Malted Meeple offerings. We will continue to monitor developments, and will provide further announcements as we have additional information.

In the meantime, escape room bookings are now available for May 21st and beyond, so book your adventure now!
