Dear Malted Meeple Guests,
As of 9:00 PM this evening, Governor DeWine has ordered the closure of in-house operations for all Ohio bars and restaurants.
While the specifics of this order are still developing, it is our understanding that the primary purpose of the action is to minimize those situations where congregations of people are sitting in close proximity. As such, while we are technically neither a bar nor a restaurant, we have aspects of each, and will be complying with what we believe is the intent of this statewide order.
Effective immediately, the Malted Meeple will be closing down the board game café side of our business. This includes both our in-house food and beverage operations as well as the communal use of our board gaming areas. As such, all scheduled board gaming and role playing sessions will be canceled for the duration of the statewide closure.
While the board gaming side of the Malted Meeple will be closed, we will continue operating our escape rooms. Our reasoning for this is simple – each escape room session is limited to a small handful of individuals, typically a single group of family or friends who would likely be in close proximity throughout the day regardless. Further, such a group can book an escape room online, arrive at the Meeple to enjoy their hour long break from the stress of the current situation, and depart for the seclusion of their own home – all with minimal contact with individuals outside their own group. Finally, as mentioned in our earlier notice, we have increased the sanitation procedures we routinely follow, and are cleaning the escape rooms between each session.
Effective tomorrow, we will be modifying our escape room hours, and will begin offering sessions as early as 10:00 AM on weekdays. Please visit the Escape Room section of our website for details and booking times.
As previously announced, we have also amended our current cancellation policies. For the foreseeable future, all escape room reservations may be rescheduled with no penalty up to 24 hours before the reservation. Simply call us at (330) 655-6919 and we will be glad to assist you.
Finally, for those of you with reservations for Kids Dungeons & Dragons, please do not fret. While the next few sessions will be cancelled, we will roll all reservations forward to the first available sessions at no penalty to you. We will contact you individually over the next week with details and to make any necessary arrangements.
We will continue to monitor this developing situation, and will provide additional details as we have them. As soon as we are able to resume normal operations, we will do so. In the meantime, we thank you for your continued support.
