The Jolly Scholar in Cleveland is a brewpub located conveniently on Case Western Reserve’s campus, but it is so much more than just your average bar. The Jolly Scholar offers a full menu onsite, catering, trivia nights, Happy Hour seven days a week, karaoke nights, and most importantly: exceptional brews!
The Malted Meeple is thrilled to tap two of the Jolly Scholar’s delicious beverages this week: Erase Today and Adjunct Instructor!
Erase Today is a Wee Heavy, a Scotch Ale with a whopping 10% ABV and 21 IBU. It is very rich and malty with big caramel sweetness, low bitterness, and a significant amount of alcohol. This is a full-bodied chewy ale that serves as the perfect dessert beer at the end of the day.
Adjunct Instructor Stout is a pastry beer with a 7.6% ABV and 22 IBU. An imperial version of a sweet stout made with lactose (milk sugar), blackberries, and chocolate. Its light roast character, low bitterness, and fruit and chocolate notes make it a decadent brew to be enjoyed slowly.
If you make your way up to Jolly Scholar, you’ll see that their menu is unique and expansive. For example: Mac and Cheese Poppers (wonton-wrapped!), Falafel Bahn Mi, Pickle Pie (yes… pizza & pickles), or maybe you’re feeling a Smokey BBQ Bacon Burger! They have veggie burgers and chicken too – which means there is something for everyone.
Keep an eye out for more Jolly Scholar at the Malted Meeple. We have a feeling this is just the beginning of a great relationship! Stop in and check out Erase Today and Adjunct Professor, and let us know what you think!
