State of Mind Hudson, Talk Saves Lives – October 6th

Our mission here at the Malted Meeple is to provide a great place – and a great way – to spend quality time with friends and family. It is important to us that we accomplish that mission while being socially conscious. We do that by supporting local charities, but also by assisting those who are looking to make a difference in the community. We were thrilled when we were asked to participate in State of Mind Hudson, an upcoming initiative put on by the Leadership Hudson class of 2019.

The purpose of State of Mind Hudson is to increase the awareness and reduce the stigma that surrounds mental health issues in our community. During the upcoming Mental Health Awareness Week (October 6th through 10th), they will be engaging the community with a variety of free, informal opportunities to learn from experts in the field, all hosted at local venues.

On Sunday, October 6th, we have the honor of hosting Talk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention, here at the Meeple. The hour long seminar begins at 7:00 PM, and will be presented by Dr. Kristin Bruns, an Assistant Professor in Counseling at Youngstown State University. Dr. Bruns has worked on three college campuses as a mental health counselor, as well as in a community agency and small private practice. She focuses her research and other scholarly activities on mental health, suicide, and protective factors.

We are inviting tweens, adolescents and young adults, along with their parents to join us at the Malted Meeple on Sunday, October 6th at 7:00 PM to hear how their actions can make a difference for those struggling with mental health issues in our community.
